Alumni Spotlight: Samuel Ajayi | College of Arts and Sciences

Samuel Ajayi graduated from Florida State University in 2025 with a doctorate in physics from the Department of Physics, part of the College of Arts and Sciences. He currently works as an environmental specialist for the Bureau of Radiation Control at the Florida Department of Health where he helps regulate and oversee the responsible use of radioactive materials in hospitals, research labs, engineering companies and other settings.

Devin Burns graduated from Florida State University in 2017 with dual bachelor’s degrees in history and religion from the Department of History and Department of Religion, both part of the College of Arts and Sciences. She later returned to FSU in Fall 2019 and graduated with a doctorate in religious studies in 2024. Student Spotlight: Ololade Sowunmi | College of Arts and Sciences

Ololade Sowunmi is a fourth-year doctoral student pursuing a degree in financial mathematics through Florida State University’s Department of Mathematics, part of the College of Arts and Sciences. Part of Sowunmi’s research focuses on minimizing risks and maximizing returns of financial investments with the goal of helping individuals and businesses preserve and grow their wealth over time. His research also uses mathematics to address climate issues. Sowunmi is set to graduate in Spring 2026.
